I Feel for You is a song by the US musician Prince , released in 1979 , which he wrote , composed , arranged and produced . The piece is featured on his album Prince and in 1984 Chaka Khan released a commercially successful cover version produced by Arif Mardin .
history
Prince originally wrote I Feel for You in 1979 while working on the album Prince and recorded a demo. After five years, work on the song began in 1984, with Khan making some changes with Prince's consent: rap passages, bridges with harmonica and passages from Stevie Wonder's fingertips . Melle Mel could be won as a rapper for the harmonica playing Stevie Wonder.
The cover version of I Feel for You was released on October 29, 1984; it became a number one hit in the UK and Ireland . It's 5:46 minutes long and appeared on the album of the same name. On the B-side of the single is the song Chinatown .
The original version of I Feel for You can also be found on the Prince compilation The Hits / The B-Sides (1993). 40 years after the release of the album Prince brought The Prince Estate (dt .: The Princeton discount ) on 18 October 2019 the song in an "Acoustic Demo" version out on the Prince's song played exclusively with one of his acoustic Accompanied guitar . The recording is probably from December 1978 or January 1979.
Music video
The music video is set in a US neighborhood . For most of the plot, Chaka Khan performs a choreography with some background dancers, with a disc jockey operating a mixer and scratching a record.
