Mick Wall

Mick Wall (born June 23, 1958 ) is a British music journalist and author who has worked for the magazines Sounds , Kerrang! , Raw and Metal Hammer and now works for Classic Rock Magazine .

Wall began his career starting in 1977 when he wrote articles for the British weekly music magazine Sounds and wrote articles on the subjects of punk and new wave . Later he expanded his spectrum and took rockabilly , funk , new romantic , then also hard rock and heavy metal into his repertoire.

In 1979 he turned away from writing and founded his own PR agency "Heavy Publicity". He organized press campaigns for Black Sabbath , Journey , REO Speedwagon , Thin Lizzy , Ultravox , The Damned , Dire Straits and other groups. In the early 1980s he worked for Virgin Records, where he oversaw press work for Ian Gillan , The Human League , Simple Minds and others.

In 1983 he became one of the main contributors to the British hard rock and heavy metal magazine Kerrang! for which he worked for the next nine years. He is on the album Use Your Illusion of Guns N 'Roses name in the song Get in the ring mentioned ; The occasion was an article that he published in Kerrang! On April 21, 1990! No. 286/287 about an interview with Guns-N'-Roses singer Axl Rose . As a result, the band refused to ever play for Kerrang again ! to be available if Wall does not solve the problem. This led to Wall becoming the Kerrang! Had to leave the editorial office at the end of 1991.

He got a job at the British magazine Metal Hammer in 1992 , but quit in 1993 and switched to Raw, a British heavy metal magazine. In 1995 and 1996 he worked again for a PR agency ( Rock Hard or Hard Work ) before he became editor-in-chief of Classic Rock Magazine in 1998 and made his own television and radio shows, including for the stations Sky TV , Capital Radio and BBC Radio 1 presented. In 2004 he switched to Mojo magazine ; since 2006 he has been writing again for Classic Rock Magazine .

As an author, Wall wrote biographies about musicians such as Ozzy Osbourne (1986), Guns n 'Roses (1991), Iron Maiden (1998), Status Quo (2004), Bono (2005), Metallica (2010) and Prince (2016).

Wall lives in Oxfordshire with his wife and children .
