Don Arden

Don Arden , actually Harry Levy , (born January 4, 1926 in Manchester , † July 21, 2007 in Los Angeles , California , United States ) was a British music manager .

Life

As a teenager, Don Arden began a career as a singer during World War II, but organized tours for US musicians such as Gene Vincent and Little Richard in the 1950s . Bands like Electric Light Orchestra , Small Faces and Black Sabbath later helped Arden to success. In 1966 he threatened to throw his manager competitor Robert Stigwood out of a window on the fourth floor because of a dispute over the band Small Faces .

Don Arden's wife, ballet teacher Hope Shaw, died in 1998. Their daughter, Sharon Rachel, is the wife of rock musician Ozzy Osbourne .

Arden, who suffered from Alzheimer's in 2002, died at the age of 81 in a nursing home in Los Angeles, California. He was buried on July 25, 2007 in the Manchester Jewish Cemetery.
