Genesis Award

The Genesis Award is a film award that is presented annually in March in California . It was founded in 1986 by Gretchen Wyler , an American actress and animal rights activist, and is presented by the animal welfare organization Humane Society of the United States . The prize honors people who have made animal welfare issues and everything related to them their subject in documentaries, feature films or magazines in the media.

Award winners include Anderson Cooper , Peter Gabriel , Ellen DeGeneres , Jane Goodall , Michael Jackson , David E. Kelley , Paul McCartney , Arthur Miller , Stephen Colbert , Oprah Winfrey , Prince and Jacques-Yves Cousteau . The Ark Trust, Inc. was founded in 1991 to present the Genesis Awards . The awards were broadcast on Discovery Channel and Animal Planet .
