Piggy Wilbur and his friends (Original title: Charlotte's Web ) is an American feature film from 2006. The film is based on the children's book Wilbur and Charlotte by Elwyn Brooks White , best known for his character Stuart Little .

The original by Elwyn Brooks White was filmed for the first time in 1973 as an animated film (German title: Zuckermanns Farm - Wilbur im Glück ) by Hanna-Barbera . Charlotte and Wilbur were voiced in this version by Debbie Reynolds and Henry Gibson . In 2003 the sequel Schweinchen Wilbur's great adventure appeared , which was produced directly for the video and DVD market.

action

Piglet Wilbur is born on the farm ; as the smallest and weakest of his litter, the farmer wants to kill it, but little Fern Arable can dissuade him. She takes Wilbur in and raises him until he is finally too difficult to hold and has to return to the Zuckermann farm.

Wilbur threatens the slaughter again for the upcoming Christmas party, but then he befriends a spider named Charlotte, who lives above his stable. Together with her and the other animals, he develops a plan for preventing slaughter. Charlotte astonishes the Zuckermanns with messages that she weaves into their nets, and after a few adventures Wilbur becomes the winner of an agricultural show competition.

In the end, Wilbur is spared, which Fern also likes; At the same time, however, he has to say goodbye to Charlotte, because the spider laid eggs during the competition and is now dying. Sad, but realizing that nothing is forever, Wilbur returns to the farm with the egg sack. Later, Charlotte's children hatch and go out into the world. Only three of them stay behind on the Zuckermann farm and become friends with Wilbur.
