history

The Viennese guitarists Mario Chehade alias Rio Che and Jakob Lackner alias El Coba founded the purely instrumental acoustic project and in 2007 traveled to Spain as a duo with their first compositions to make music on the streets of Barcelona . Back in Vienna, they met the violinist Herwig Schaffner, known as Herwigos, in winter 2007, who added them to the trio.

In 2008 the trio's first album, Insight , was released, followed by Cobario Island in 2009 and A Vagabond's Tale in 2011. In 2013 the CD Cobario - Live in Concert was released .

In January 2014, Rio Che left the trio. Herwigos and El Coba found a successor in the guitarist Georg Aichberger, known as Giorgio Rovere.

With the new line-up, they won first prize at the international street music festival in Ludwigsburg in 2014 . At the winners' concert they performed some new pieces that they had previously composed during a stay in Hungary .

These pieces can also be found on the band's fourth album, Royal .

In 2016 and 2018 they were able to win first prize at the international street music festival in Ludwigsburg after a one-year break .

In 2017 Cobario released the album 10 Worlds . During the album tour, the trio toured numerous countries, such as Mexico , Iran , Tunisia and many more. The inspirations of these trips were finally reflected in new compositions, which appeared on the album Far Away in 2020 .
