International Street Music Festival Baden-Württemberg
The International Street Music Festival Baden-Württemberg takes place annually on the Whitsun weekend in the Blooming Baroque in Ludwigsburg .
history
The festival took place for the first time in 2001 and then initially every two years. In 2007 they changed to an annual rhythm. The eleventh festival achieved a record attendance in 2014 with around 40,000 listeners. 40 bands or individual musicians show their art in the castle garden; In 2014 around ten times as many individual artists and groups applied for these 40 places. The artists come from different countries, including outside of Europe. The festival management tries to invite new musicians every year.
The competition winners are chosen exclusively by the audience. The five best placed will each receive a cash prize of 250 to 1500 euros. Otherwise no fees will be paid at the festival. Oboluse from the audience for the artists are welcome and welcome. Some artists earn some money during the day in the city with street music and at the same time promote their appearance at the festival.
The artistic level of many musicians is high. Groups like Cobario from Vienna, Carpe Noctem from Jena, and The Busquito’s (sic) from the Netherlands, the first, second and third place winners in 2014, consist of experienced professional musicians with classical training. Other artists impress with their inventiveness and originality, for example the one-man band by Paolo Sgallini, third place in 2015.
The street music festival 2020, which should have taken place from May 29th to 31st, was canceled due to the corona epidemic .

At the entrance from the courtyard to the garden there is a monument to the winners in the form of a series of engraved stone slabs. Year after year, the winners are honored with such a roll of honor with a graphic portrait.
