Apollonia 6 was a girl group that was founded by the US musician Prince and consisted of the singers Apollonia Kotero , Brenda Bennett and Susan Moonsie.

Bennett and Moonsie were previously members of the girl group Vanity 6 , also founded by Prince , which had a hit in 1982 with the song Nasty Girl . The then front singer Vanity was replaced by Apollonia Kotero by Prince, which is why he renamed the band Apollonia 6. Jill Jones and Wendy and Lisa worked as backing singers on the only album Apollonia 6 .

The success came shortly after the film Purple Rain was released in late summer 1984, but was not permanent. Brenda Bennett and Susan Moonsie retired from the music business, while Apollonia Kotero started a solo career and mainly works as an actress.

Apollonia 6 was very revealing for the time, as the three women mostly appeared in underwear. In Germany, for example, they could be seen in the music program Formula One .

Founding member Vanity died of kidney failure on February 15, 2016 at the age of 57 .
