Apollonia Kotero (* 2. August 1959 as Patricia Kotero in Santa Monica , California ) is an American singer and actress , and a former photo model .

Life

Kotero began her career in the early 1980s with guest roles on television series such as CHiPs , Fantasy Island and Knight Rider . She became known in 1984 through the film Purple Rain , in which she played Prince's lover . Prince also made her the lead singer of the band Apollonia 6 , which was only to exist for a short time. In the television series Falcon Crest Kotero was seen in 1985 and 1986 in ten episodes as the singer Apollonia. In 1988 she released her solo album of the same name, Apollonia, from which three singles were released.

Between 1989 and 1992 she starred in several feature films, such as Back to Back with Bill Paxton and in Black Magic Woman with Mark Hamill .

In September 2016, Kotero performed two live concerts by The Revolution , Prince 's former backing band.
