CD included

CD / DVD supplement from Indonesian computer magazines

A CD / DVD add-on (also: covermount or booklet CD / DVD ) is a CD / DVD that is used by publishers and branded companies to make a publication or commercial product more attractive and promotional.

They stick in the magazines or are enclosed with the goods. The storage media mainly contains slimmed-down demo and test software ( shareware ), but also music, audio books or complete feature films. In the past, a few free programs from the Internet ( freeware ) or older, slimmed-down software versions of formerly powerful software were usually added as "full versions". The software manufacturers sometimes even make the latter available to publishers free of charge in order to win customers over to the latest versions of their software. However, the trend is also towards full-fledged software (such as computer games), music titles, and films that are no longer entirely up-to-date.

Music CDs, DVDs with blockbuster films, documentaries and audio books are now used to promote sales. Not only magazine publishers like to add silver discs to their newspapers, but also branded goods companies today rely on DVD or CD to set an additional purchase impulse at the POS (point of sale).
