Pankow , also written ПAНКОВ in the early days , is an Italian band.

Band history

The band was formed in Florence in 1982 . The founding line-up only lasted a few years. Later the band consisted of permanent members Maurizio Fasolo, Alex Spalck and Paolo Favati. After increasing popularity in Europe, the formation also became famous through extensive tours in the USA - mainly through the angry, bizarre lyrics (also in German) and the danceable rhythms. In 1996 an album with completely Italian lyrics was released, which until then contained Pankow's most brutal electronic sounds and beats. The singer on this CD, however, was Gianluca Becuzzi, who only belonged to the band as a singer for this one recording. The band's last European tour also took place with him.

After this controversial CD, simply titled "PANKOW", activities were discontinued for around five years. Many fans regretted the lack of typical Spalck texts. The following records sang again Alex Spalck, whom the band went to especially for the recordings in his new home country Australia. The current band members are Maurizio Fasolo (FM), Enzo Regi, Massimo Michelotti, Paolo Favati and Alex Spalck.

The current album "Great Minds Against Themselves Conspire" was released in 2007 and also contained a song in a folk gypsy style ( Flash Me With Your Rage ). The bands that have been influenced by Pankow also include Sandow and Sabotage Qu'Est-Ce Que C'Est?

style

The style is very unique and influenced a little by Kraftwerk. Electronic structures at different speeds mix with English / German texts. There are also slight similarities in sound to Einstürzende Neubauten .
