Sarah Hyland (born November 24, 1990 in New York City , New York ) is an American actress .

Life

Sarah Hyland was born in New York City . Her father is actor Edward James Hyland and her brother is actor Ian Hyland .

Her first role was in the film Private Parts when she was five . This was followed by a role in the film Annie as Molly and in the NBC series Lipstick Jungle as Maddie Healy. On Broadway in 2006 she played the role of young Jackie O in the musical Gray Gardens .

From 2009 to 2020 she starred in the role of Haley Dunphy in the ABC - Mockumentary Modern Family .

She was dating actor Matt Prokop since 2009 and got engaged to him in 2011. The couple separated in 2014. From 2015 to 2017, she was with actor Dominic Sherwood , known from Shadowhunters . In October 2017, she announced her relationship with Wells Adams, a former candidate on the dating show "The Bachelorette". The couple got engaged in July 2019.
