Matt Procopius
Matthew "Matt" Prokop (born July 29, 1990 in Victoria , Texas ) is an American actor , best known for his role as Jimmy "The Rocket" Zara in the Disney Channel Original Movie High School Musical 3: Senior Year .
Life
Matt Prokop was born as Matthew Prokop in July 1990 in Victoria , Texas, USA. At the age of 16, he moved to Los Angeles to pursue his dream of acting. During his childhood he was an active soccer player and also participated in school theater at Victoria Memorial High School. Prokop decided to take acting classes after a family vacation in May 2005 and went to Houston for it. Eventually he was accepted by an agency. This was followed by guest appearances in Hannah Montana , The Office and in the film An Angel Named Billy . He quickly became a sought-after newcomer to Hollywood.
His breakthrough came with the role of Jimmie "The Rocket" Zara in the third installment of the Disney Channel film High School Musical 3: Senior Year , in which he starred alongside Zac Efron , Vanessa Hudgens and Ashley Tisdale . His German standard dubbing voice is that of Tobias Kern .
From 2009 to 2014 he was in a relationship with actress Sarah Hyland . In August 2014, Hyland obtained an injunction against Prokop for allegedly abusing her physically and verbally in the last four years of their relationship. There has been a permanent ban on contact since October 2014.
