The Conners (Original title: The Conners ) is an American sitcom that has aired on ABC since October 16, 2018 . The series is a spin-off of the Roseanne series .
In March 2019, the series was extended for a second season. The second season began broadcasting on ABC on September 24, 2019.
In German-speaking countries, the series was released on Prime Video on November 30, 2018 . It has been broadcast on German-speaking free TV on Disney Channel since February 13, 2019, and on CH Media's TV25 and S1 channels in German-speaking Switzerland since March 1, 2019 .
On May 21, 2020, the series was extended for a third season.

The focus of the series is the working class Conner family, who live at 714 Delaware Street in the fictional town of Lanford in the US state of Illinois . After the unexpected death of the matriarch Roseanne, the Conners have to reorganize and orientate themselves in their lives. Father Daniel, called Dan, and his adult children Rebecca, called "Becky", Darlene and David Jacob, called "DJ", have to deal with the bigger and smaller problems of everyday life.
The plot thus also deals with topics such as parenthood, drug addiction, dating, an unexpected pregnancy, financial pressure, aging and in-laws in the working class environment.

After the mother series Roseanne was able to achieve high ratings with the broadcast of a new season in 2018, the series was initially extended for an eleventh season. This extension was withdrawn late May 2018 again after actress Roseanne Barr one as racist evaluated Tweet on Twitter spread, which refers to the appearance of a former adviser to Barack Obama was referring.
At the beginning of June, the producers then began successful negotiations about a spin-off of the series under a new name and announced that it would be shooting for late summer 2018. One of the issues in the negotiations was the compensation for Barr's copyrights on the series.
Filming began on August 31, 2018 at Warner Bros. Studios in Burbank , California . Like the previous series, The Conners will be recorded in front of a live audience.
In March 2019, the series was extended by a second season, which should initially consist of 13 episodes. Six more episodes were later ordered, so that it now consists of 19 episodes and thus has significantly more episodes than the first season. In the course of the extension, there were renewed contract negotiations for the leading actors, in which John Goodman , Sara Gilbert , Laurie Metcalf and Lecy Goranson received a raise. Michael Fishman and Emma Kenney will only be seen in guest roles after the current negotiations.
In early September it was announced that Maya Lynne Robinson will not return as Geena Williams-Conner for the second season . Instead, Katey Sagal should join the cast as the lead actress after she made a guest appearance in the eighth episode of the first season. Ultimately, she was hired as a supporting actress.
