Portal Tomb by Scraghy

The portal Tomb of Scraghy (also Crockalaghta , Irish Cnoc an Leachta , "hill of the grave") is located on the boggy muddy terrain of a farm next to a sheepfold in the hamlet of Killen, southwest of Castlederg in the townland of Scraghy ( Irish Scrathaigh ) near the border to County Donegal in County Tyrone in Northern Ireland . In the British Isles, portal tombs are megalithic systems in which two equally high, upright stones with a door stone in between form the front of a chamber, which is covered with a sometimes huge capstone.

The collapsed portal Tomb is about 1.6 meters high, 3.0 meters wide and 2.0 meters long. The rest of the megalithic complex is made up of a narrow and compact slab, which are supported by stones that have remained standing . About ten meters south there is a menhir ( English standing stone ), which was part of another grave or part of the hill of this Portal Tombs.
