Shazz , real name Didier Delesalle , (born December 24, 1967 in Dunkerque ) is a French musician and techno producer. He publishes electronic music in the field of deep house and downbeat .

Life

Didier Delesalle was born in Dunkerque in 1967. In the 1980s he got to know electronic music such as electro and dance in the Brussels music scene . He later moved to Paris, where he initially worked as a model for the fashion designer Jean Paul Gaultier . Musically, he was one of the early followers of New Wave , Disco and Hi-NRG . He discovered EP records with American house music and became a fan of Larry Heard (aka Mr. Fingers ) in particular . He was also influenced by Detroit techno .

The producer Éric Morand hired Delesalle in 1992 as a musician for the music label Fnac Music Dance Division . Under the pseudonyms L'n'S , Nuages or Soofle , he worked on several EPs with the musician St Germain . In 1993 Delesalle published the piece Acid Eiffel together with St Germain and Laurent Garnier under the pseudonym Choice , which is now considered an early classic of French techno . At the same time Delesalle brought out his own pieces such as Orange and Aurora Borealis under the pseudonym Shazz . After Eric Morand and Laurent Garnier founded the F Communications label in 1994 , Delesalle / Shazz published his recordings there.

In the late 1990s, Shazz left the F Communications label and switched to the major American label Columbia Records . He began to work with instrumental musicians, which expanded the tonal range of his pieces through the use of trumpet, bass, saxophone or piano. Several tracks from his album Shazz were remixed by deep house and garage house musicians such as Blaze and Joe Claussel on the Yellow Productions label . The album Shazz was nominated for the 1999 Victoires de la Musique music prize in the techno category.

The next album In The Light was released on the Epic Records label . Shazz had composed the eleven tracks within a year in which he combined styles such as house, pop and black music . Shazz worked with DJ Gregory, Julien Jabre and Alexandre Destrez on the rhythmic arrangements and mixing . Vocal elements played a bigger role in the 2004 album Beautiful . Here, too, he worked again with Julien Jabre, who was responsible for mixing; Alexandre Destrez worked on the keyboards.

After an interlude with the countertenor Gérard Lesne and the arranger Dominique Massa in the project Human? , Published in March 2009 by the label Pschent Music with Heritage , the fourth solo album by Shazz. He was accompanied by the American singer Michael Robinson. The album includes elements of electropop , gospel , soul and blues . The title Mirage contained therein also appeared on the compilation CD Hôtel Costes No. 11 and on Costes Decade . In 2015, the album Beautiful was re-released on Shazz's own label Batignolles Square .
