James Pickens Junior
James Pickens Jr. (born October 26, 1954 in Cleveland , Ohio ) is an American actor .
life and career
Born in Cleveland, he gained his first stage experience in the New York theater scene. This was later followed by plays such as A Raisin in the Sun at the Roundabout Theater and A Soldier's Play alongside Denzel Washington and Samuel L. Jackson .
After Pickens moved to the West Coast in 1990 , he played supporting roles in a number of series and small film roles, until his breakthrough with Nixon in 1995 . After a few more demanding roles in films such as Gridlock'd , Bulworth and Traffic - Power of the Cartel , engagements in series followed. Since 2005 he can be seen as Richard Webber in the successful US series Grey's Anatomy .
In his spare time he rodeo and competes regularly as a member of the United States Roping Team .
He is married to Gina Pickens and has two children with her.
