S1 is a private, advertising-financed Swiss television broadcaster. It was founded in 2013 by Michael Richard Gut and Bernhard Max Lussi - former executives at Sat.1 Switzerland and ProSieben Switzerland . It replaces the frequencies that have since been discontinued by Tele 24 and started its first broadcast on October 18, 2013. On January 1, 2018, AZ Medien took over the station.

CH Media has been a joint venture of the NZZ media group and AZ Medien owner of S1 since 2018 . CH Media started operations on October 1, 2018. Previously, S1 belonged to AZ Medien.

program

S1's target group is preferably 15 to 59 year olds. Thanks to a collaboration with ZDF , S1 can access the largest German-language program stock. In the initial phase of the station, mainly documentaries and entertainment programs such as Rosamunde Pilcher films were shown. Programs specific to Switzerland will include a daily “ Mike Shiva Astro Show” and recordings of Swissview helicopter flights . In-house productions such as a comedy show are also planned. The weekly cinema magazine “ kinowetter ”, presented by the Lucerne presenter Thomas Odermatt from the film theater in the Swiss Museum of Transport in Lucerne, has been running since December 12, 2013 .

The station has been broadcast in Switzerland since October 18, 2013 via the UPC Switzerland cable network and has been available via Swisscom TV since December 16, 2013 . The station can also be received via the Swiss version of Zattoo .
