Mary Agnes Donoghue (born March 26, 1943 in Queens , New York ) is an American screenwriter and film director . She became known through films such as Biete Mutter - sucht Vater , Freundeinnen , Weißer Oleander , Die Journalistin or Jenny's Wedding .

life and career

Mary Agnes Donoghue was born in Queens in 1943. In the 1980s, Donoghue turned to the film business. The director Glenn Jordan filmed her first Hollywood screenplay in 1984 under the title Offer Mother - Seeking Father , a romantic comedy starring Richard Dreyfuss , Susan Sarandon and Nancy Allen in the lead roles. This was followed in the 1980s, 1990s and 2000s for films such as Freundinnen mit Bette Midler and Barbara Hershey , the Goldie Hawn thriller Deceived by director Damian Harris , the Peter Kosminsky film drama Weißer Oleander with Michelle Pfeiffer , Renée Zellweger and Robin Wright or in 2003 Joel Schumacher's biopic Die Journalistin , in which Cate Blanchett and Colin Farrell played the leading roles.

From 1996 until his death in 2012, she was married to the writer and journalist Christopher Robbins.
