The magazine was initially brought out by the Time Warner subsidiary Time Inc. as an outsourcing of the People page in Time Magazine . Meredith Corporation has been the publisher since 2017 . The magazine, which has been published since 1974, has over 3.7 million readers.
People deals with celebrities and stories with human interest . Both areas each take up half of People Magazine . In particular, People is known for its annual special editions The 100 Most Beautiful People , The Best and Worst Dressed, and The Sexiest Man Alive . The electoral vote for the list of the 100 most beautiful has been taking place since 1990.
A German edition was published by the Bauer Media Group from March 2015 to June 2016 .
