Giulia Enders

Giulia Enders (* 1990 in Mannheim ) is a German non-fiction author and doctor.

Life

As a medical student , Enders won first prize at the Science Slam in Freiburg , Berlin and Karlsruhe in 2012 with her lecture Darm mit Charme . This talk was also published on YouTube . Enders was asked to write to that topic a book the offer, which shortly after the publication in March 2014 No. 1 on the mirror - Bestseller List (Category paperback nonfiction) reached. Her older sister Jill Enders did the illustrations for the lecture and the book. Enders had appearances on the talk shows 3 nach 9 and Markus Lanz . The book also received a response in the print media. For example, the Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung pointed out that Enders had written a bestseller about a comparatively unexplored organ, the scientific exploration of which is still in its infancy. The author said she had contacted five high-ranking scientists, but received no answer, so she decided to do her own research.

Darm mit Charme was the best-selling hardcover non-fiction book in Germany in 2014 with over a million copies. In 2015 she received gold in the audio book award for the audio book . According to the Ullstein Verlag, the book rights have been sold for 26 countries.

Enders completed his medical degree in 2017. She works as a licensed doctor at the University Hospital Frankfurt am Main on her doctoral thesis in the field of gastroenterology (subject: Acinetobacter baumannii bacterium ). She is currently in training to become a specialist in internal medicine . She also works as a science journalist for Die Zeit .
