John Boyne

John Boyne (born April 30, 1971 in Dublin, Ireland ) is an Irish writer. He has written twenty novels and various short stories so far. His novel The Boy in the Striped Pajamas (2006, dt. The Boy in the Striped Pajamas wrote Boyne, 2007) a worldwide bestseller that was filmed and Miramax. Boyne lives in Dublin.

John Boyne studied English literature at Trinity College Dublin and creative writing at the University of East Anglia , Norwich .

Boyne made his international literary breakthrough with The Boy in the Striped Pajamas . To date, over nine million copies have been sold. In 2007 the book was filmed in Budapest . In total, Boyne's books have been translated into 51 languages.

In 2013 he was a member of the jury for the award The Extraordinary Book of the children and youth program of the Berlin International Literature Festival .
