The EHC Netphen '08 is a German ice hockey club from Netphen in Siegerland . It was founded in 2008 and plays in the regional league of North Rhine-Westphalia from 2013 to 2017.
history
In the table tennis community in 1957 Netphen an ice department was founded in 1977, in 1979, the association named in 1957 Netphen table tennis and ice community has to offer. In 1981 the club split up and the ice sports department became EHC Netphen . From 1987 to 1991 the club played in the Regionalliga West, in which it mostly occupied places in the lower midfield. In 1986 the women's team split under the name EF Netphen , but broke up in 2008. After the end of the 1990/91 season, the men's team was withdrawn from the regional league and the club was dissolved.
In August 1991, the EC Siegerland was founded as a successor club. Its teams played in the leagues of the State Ice Sports Association of North Rhine-Westphalia until the end of the 2008/09 season.
In the summer of 2008 a new ice hockey club was founded out of the 1b team of EC Siegerland under the name EHC Netphen '08 . This took part in the Landesliga-Pokal NRW from January 2009. In the summer of 2009, the EC Siegerland was dissolved and its youth teams joined the EHC Netphen '08.
In the 2009/10 season, the team took part in the regular game operation of the state league and initially managed to qualify for the Association League Cup. The finals against the eventual winner EHC Krefeld ended 2:12 and 8: 3. In addition, the young club made it to the regional league for the 2010/11 season . There the team reached in February 2011 as third in the table qualification for the promotion round in the league for the season 2011/12 . The team finished the promotion round in eighth place and thus missed the athletic qualification for the third highest division. After declarations of waiver by the established participants for the 2011/12 season, the club agreed to move up to the top division. There, however, they immediately got off again and competed in the regional league again in the 2012/13 season . Here they finished 6th at the end of the preliminary round and could thus keep the class in terms of sport, but the club withdrew to the district league for the 2013/14 season. Due to the failure of the Netphens ice stadium shortly before the start of the 2017/18 season, the EHC teams were excluded from play by the North Rhine-Westphalia Ice Sports Association. As a result, insolvency proceedings had to be opened for the association, in which the association is to be deleted from the register of associations at the request of the insolvency administrator. The members of the EHC voted for the continuation of the EHC Netphen 08.
