Lois Abbingh (born August 13, 1992 in Groningen ) is a Dutch handball player .

Career

Abbingh started playing handball at V&S Groningen. The backcourt player then moved to E&O Emmen , where she was Eredivisie's top scorer in the 2009/10 season. In summer 2010 she moved to the German Bundesliga club VfL Oldenburg . She won the DHB Cup with VfL in 2012 . Abbingh joined the Romanian club HCM Baia Mare for the 2014/15 season . In the summer of 2016, she moved to the French first division club Issy Paris Hand . From the 2018/19 season she was under contract with the Russian club GK Rostov-on-Don . With Rostov she won the Russian championship in 2019 and 2020. In summer 2020 she moved to the Danish first division club Odense Håndbold .

Abbingh has played 142 games for the Dutch national team so far , in which they scored 613 goals. With the Netherlands, she took part in the 2010 European Championships and the 2011 and 2013 World Championships . She also took part in the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro . She won the silver medal at the 2016 European Championships . A year later she won the bronze medal at the World Cup in Germany . In addition, Abbingh was elected to the All-Star team and finished second on the list of goalscorers with 58 goals. She also won the bronze medal at the European Championships in 2018 . At the 2019 World Cup , she won the world title by beating the Spanish selection 30:29 in the final. Abbingh scored the decisive goal a few seconds before the final whistle with a seven-meter throw. She was also the tournament's top scorer with 71 goals.

With the Dutch selection of juniors, Abbingh was U19 Vice European Champion in 2011 and achieved the top scorer's crown with 65 goals. A year earlier, she finished third with the Netherlands at the U18 World Cup and also won the top scorer's crown.
