Laura Matzke (born October 30, 1988 in Prenzlau ) is a German table tennis player .

youth

At the age of six, Laura Matzke began playing table tennis at the ESV Prenzlau club, which was playing in the major league at the time and to which her mother Anke also belonged. In 1996 she reached the finals at the national level at the mini championships . In 2001 she won the state championship for adults in Brandenburg for the first time, and in 2002 and 2003 she defended this title. In 2003 she won the national ranking tournament Top-12 of the female pupils, at the German championships for pupils she was second in singles, first in doubles with Angelina Gürz and second in mixed with Dimitrij Ovtcharov . At the 2003 European Youth Championships, the girls' team came third. In the same year she moved to Hassia Bingen in the 2nd Bundesliga , two years later to TV Busenbach . In 2006 she won the girls' singles and doubles titles at the German youth championships with Angelina Gürz, she came third in mixed with Markus Schlichter , and came second at the national ranking tournament . This year she took part again in the European Youth Championship, where she came in fifth with the team. At the 2006 World Youth Championship she reached the round of 16 in singles and doubles.

Adults

In 2008 she joined the club DJK TuS Holsterhausen and has since played in the 1st Bundesliga . In the following year he switched to Hannover 96 , 2010 to TTSV Saarlouis-Fraulautern , 2011 to TTC Langweid , 2012 to VfL Tegel, 2013 to TTK Großburgwedel and 2014 to MTV Tostedt .

In 2006 she took seventh place at the national ranking tournament DTTB-Top 12 , a year later she came eighth. At the national German championships she was third in doubles three times: in 2006 with Svenja Obst, in 2009 with Christine Apel and in 2011 with Svenja Obst.

In 2009 Matzke was nominated for the European Championship . Here she was used for the first time in an international match: On September 16, she won 3-0 against Ina Karahodzina (Belarus). In the individual competition she won against Magdalena Szczerkowska (Poland) and then dropped out against Anna Tikhomirova (Russia). In doubles with Kathrin Mühlbach she reached the second round after victories over Maria Xiao / Carmen Solichero (Portugal / Spain) and Li Qian / Xian Yifang (Poland / France). Here they were subject to the Italians Nikoleta Stefanova / Wenling Tan Monfardini .

Laura Matzke has been playing for TTG Langenich since the 2020/21 season. Here she competes with the men's team in the regional league.
