Markus Schlichter

Markus Schlichter (born March 19, 1988 in Nürtingen ) is a German table tennis player. He currently plays (2013/14 season) at TSV Wendlingen in the regional league.

Career

Markus Schlichter started his career at TV Unterboihingen. In 1998 he became German student champion in doubles together with T. Krammer. In the 2004/2005 season he moved from TSV Wendlingen to TTC Frickenhausen , where he now plays in the 2nd team in the 2nd table tennis Bundesliga . In March he won the Slovenian Youth Open in singles (3-0 in the final against Uros Gordic from Serbia ) and with the team (3-2 in the final against Denmark). He is currently (May 2006) in seventh place in the German men's ranking.

In 2006 he was third in the German Youth Championships in singles, doubles (with Hendrik Fuß) and mixed (with Laura Matzke ). Further successes are:

  • Winner of the Slovenian Open boys singles and teams 2006
  • Winner Luxembourg Open boys singles 2005
  • Winner DTTB Top 12 2005

On August 29th, 2008 Markus Schlichter was runner-up at the Porec Open behind Benjamin Gerold. Since the 2008/09 season he has been back at TSV Wendlingen.
