Wenling Tan Monfardini (born October 28, 1972 in Hunan ) is a Chinese-born table tennis player who performs internationally for Italy. She was European champion with the Italian team in 2003, and she also reached the final three times at European championships.

successes

Tan Monfardini made his first international appearance at the Danish Open, which was part of the ITTF Pro Tour series. So far, she was most successful at the 2003 European Championship , where she won the title with the Italian team and only lost in the final against the Romanian Otilia Bădescu in the singles . In addition, she reached the final with Nikoleta Stefanova (Italy) in 2008 and 2009 . With the same partner, she was already in the semifinals of the 2005 and 2007 European Championships , in which she also played in the singles in 2008 .

She took part in the European ranking tournament TOP-12 five times and achieved her best result in 2007 with fifth place. Since 2003 she has been active in eight world championships , but never came close to medal ranks. In 2004 and 2008 she qualified for participation in the Summer Olympics.

Wenling Tan Monfardini plays for the Italian club Sterilgarda TT Castel Goffredo , to which she returned at the end of the 2006/07 season after a year-long stint in the 1st Bundesliga at Homberger TS . In 2012 she joined the Bundesliga promoted SV DJK Kolbermoor , where she stayed until 2016.

In April 2015 mother and daughter - Wenling Tan Monfardini with daughter Gaia - competed in the 1st Bundesliga in the team fight between SV Kolbermoor and NSC Watzenborn-Steinberg in a double, which they won 3-0. It was the first time in the 1st Bundesliga that mother and daughter appear as doubles. Also with the men a father-son-double did not occur in the 1st BL.

Wenling Tan Monfardini was most recently ranked 104 in the ITTF world rankings (August 2013). In February 2007 it was ranked 22nd.

Wenling Tan Monfardini is married and has a daughter who also played for SV DJK Kolbermoor .
