Homberger TS

The Homberger Turnerschaft is a sports club founded in 1862 from Homberg (Efze) in northern Hesse . The table tennis department , whose women's team was active in the 1st Bundesliga for three years and won the ETTU Cup in 2006 , is particularly well known .

In 1998 the club was promoted to the 2nd women's table tennis league for the first time, and in 2003 it was promoted to the 1st Bundesliga, from which, however, it was relegated after one season. With 39: 1 points succeeded in the 2004/05 season again promotion to the first division (Yin Na, Kristin Silbereisen , Sandra Paović , Dana Hadačová , Tatjana Mancic, Zhenqi Barthel , Anna Baklanova).

In the 2005/06 season, the team took 6th place in the table and celebrated their greatest success by winning the ETTU Cup. The players Wenling Tan Monfardini , Zhenqi Barthel , Yin Na and Anna Janta-Lipinska were involved.

After the third from last place in the league, the club voluntarily withdrew the team to the 2nd Bundesliga in 2007, where they came fourth in 2007/08 and second in the southern group in 2008/09. On April 28, 2009, the club announced that after the resignation of long-time manager Volker Koch, the team would be withdrawing from the 2nd division. In the 2009/10 season, the women of the Homberger TS started in the major league and won the championship there. For the 2010/11 season , Eintracht Baunatal took over the top division starting place and most of the team from Homberger TS, which no longer reported its own women's team to league play.
