The MTV Tostedt from 1879 eV is a sports club from Tostedt . MTV stands for men's gymnastics club .
The club has the departments basketball, pool billiards, boules, football, handball, athletics, cycling, chess, tennis, table tennis, gymnastics, volleyball and hiking.
Billiards (pool)
The billiards department is the youngest department of MTV Tostedt and was founded in 2017. Initially, players played on two billiard tables in the A1 Billardcafe Rade, but now the players use the premises in Friedrich-Vorwerk-Str. 17, where the billiard performance center P 17 is to be built in mid-2018, then with eight 9-foot tables.
The offer is aimed at all those interested in billiards, regardless of their previous knowledge or ambitions. With the completion of the new hall, the focus will be on young people and people with physical disabilities.
Two teams are currently taking part in the game operations of the North German Billiards Association, with the first team just making the promotion to the district league perfect (June 2018). The goal for the future will be to have a team in each NBV league, to prepare young people for participation in German championships and to send handicapped athletes to the German championships as well.
Handball
Handball has been on MTV since 1946. The women began on the large field. In the game series 1948–50, Tostedt was one of the strongest players in the district with the women and men. In the following years youth teams were added and there were many successes at district and district level. In 1980 the first women's team under the leadership of Marlis Hölscher won the district championship and was promoted to the Lower Saxony Oberliga. In 1987 the women reached the Lower Saxony championship. In 1990 he was promoted to the regional league (now the 3rd league). In 1995, the team was unfortunately unable to achieve their goal of staying in the regional league, they have to make their way to the top division. Unfortunately, some top performers then left the club, so that the team had to be signed off from the league before the start of the season. After a good 20 years, in 2017, the success could be repeated, Andreas Peikert's team made it to the top division.
2 women's, 1 men's and 11 youth teams are active in the 2019/20 season.
chess
The 1st team of MTV Tostedt in chess plays in the Oberliga North West, which corresponds to the 3rd league. As of February 2020, four title holders are playing for Tostedt: Grand Master Zoltán Varga and International Masters Albert Bokros , Gyula Izsák and Ádám Szeberényi .
Table tennis
Four women, five men and seven junior teams were active in the table tennis department in the 2010/11 season.
The first women's team reached the 2nd Bundesliga in 1996. Here she was in the 2000/01 season champion in the cast of Gao Lin, Marketa Benecova, Ilka Uhrlandt, Silke Jark and rose to the 1st Bundesliga . Here she played until 2011. At the same time, the 2nd women's team played temporarily in the 2nd Bundesliga after 2007. The coach was Holger Krützfeldt until September 2006. He was succeeded by Jimmie Langham.
The 1st men's team competes in the major league.
