Kathrin Mühlbach (born January 30, 1992 in Dippoldiswalde ) is a German table tennis player . In 2010 she became German champion in doubles.

youth

Mühlbach began her career at her home club SV Dippoldiswalde. In 1999 she joined TV Busenbach . After a stopover at the regional league team ITTC Sachsen Döbeln, she moved to DJK TuS Essen-Holsterhausen in the Bundesliga in 2008 and to TSV Schwabhausen in 2010 . She left this club in 2012, although there was a dispute for months over the signature on the bill of exchange and the DTTB Federal Court only decided in December 2012 that she was eligible to play for the Leutscher Füchse Leipzig . In 2017 she was hired by Ttc berlin eastside .

In her youth, Kathrin Mühlbach achieved numerous successes - mostly in doubles alongside Sabine Winter :

  • 2006: International Youth Championships of the Czech Republic: win with the team.
  • 2007: DTTB ranking tournament Top12 youth: second place among the students
  • 2007: International Youth Championships of France: Victory in doubles
  • 2008: German youth championship: victory in doubles with Sabine Winter
  • 2008: European Youth Championship: silver with team
  • 2009: German youth championship: Victory in mixed with Tran Le Vu
  • 2009: International Championships in Spain: Victory with the team and doubles with Sabine Winter
  • 2009: Participation in the European Youth Championship
  • 2009: DTTB ranking tournament Top12 youth: second place among the girls
  • 2010: Bronze with a team at the World Youth Championship

Adults

In 2010 Mühlbach won the national German championship in doubles with Sabine Winter . They defeated Wu Jiaduo / Elke Schall in the final . In 2009 she was nominated for the European Championship in Stuttgart. Here she qualified in the consolidation round through victories over Maria Christoforaki (Greece), Therese Andersen (Norway) and a defeat against Elena Mocrousov (Moldova) for participation in the main round, where she was eliminated in the first round against Renáta Štrbíková (Czech Republic) . With Laura Matzke in doubles, she defeated Maria Xiao / Carmen Solichero (Portugal / Spain) and Li Qian / Xian Yifang (Poland / France). Then they lost to the later silver medalists Nikoleta Stefanova / Wenling Tan Monfardini (Italy).

In 2011 she took part in the World Championships in Rotterdam . Here, too, she was beaten in the opening round of the individual by Wu Xue (Dominican Republic). In mixed with Ruwen Filus, she reached the second round by defeating Daniel Reed / Hannah Hicks (England), where she failed to Adrian Crișan / Daniela Dodean (Romania). It was not used in the double competition.

She played her first international match in May 2011 in Budapest against England in the European Nations League. Here she won against Edina Toth.

Private

Kathrin Mühlbach runs a table tennis school in Dippoldiswalde with her Colombian husband Carlos Mühlbach (who has taken her wife's name). You have a daughter. Hermann Mühlbach, Katrin's brother, was the national table tennis coach in Luxembourg. At times he played in the 2nd Bundesliga.
