Wolfgang Hanisch
Wolfgang Hanisch (born March 6, 1951 in Großkorbetha , Saxony-Anhalt ) is a German athlete who - starting for the GDR - won the bronze medal in the javelin throw at the 1980 Olympic Games . Before that, he had reached medal ranks three times at European Championships. He experienced his most successful year at international highlights in 1979, when he won the World Cup and European Cup finals.

Wolfgang Hanisch started for the SC Chemie Halle and trained with Günter Siegel . During his playing days he was 1.87 m tall and weighed 92 kg. After his sports career, he became a functionary in the GDR sports association DTSB and, after the fall of the Wall, the last head of his former sports club, SC Chemie Halle. He later became a geriatric nurse in a senior citizen center.
