Ingeborg Schwalbe (born November 21, 1935 in Bernsdorf , Oberlausitz as Ingeborg Günther ) is a former athlete from the German Democratic Republic (GDR). From 1954 to 1964 she was consistently one of the best javelin throwers in the GDR.

Ingeborg Schwalbe started under her maiden name until 1958. In 1954 she started for Motor Zeiss Jena and from 1955 for SC Dynamo Berlin . In 1954, 1957, 1958 and 1964 she won the GDR championship title, and took second place five times: in 1955 and 1956 behind Irmgard Müller , in 1959 behind Ursula Behr and in 1962 and 1963 behind Marion Graefe . She was able to qualify twice for the all-German team , at the European Championships in Belgrade in 1962 she took seventh place in the preliminary fight with 48.55 m, only the best six throwers reached the final. In the run-up to the 1964 Olympic Games in Tokyo, Ingeborg Schwalbe had increased her personal best to 57.42 m, in Tokyo she was eliminated from the qualification with 45.55 m.

In 1954 she set the first of her nine GDR records as Ingeborg Günther with 43.33 m, in 1960 she set two all-German records with 54.11 m and 55.64 m. In 1963 Marion Graefe threw the spear at 58.45 m and replaced Schwalbe as the record holder.

With a height of 1.66 m, Schwalbe's competition weight was 70 kg. She was a civil servant by profession.
