Beate Edeltraud Peters (born October 12, 1959 in Marl , Westphalia ) is a former German athlete and Olympian who was among the world's top javelin throwers in the 1980s .

Her greatest success is the third place at the World Championships 1987 ( 68.82 m - invalid - 62.24 - 61.12 - 57.96 - invalid).

The year before, 1986, she had also achieved third place at the European Championships (65.72 - 68.04 m - 63.14 - invalid - 60.38 - 64.50).
