Heinrich Buchgeister (born March 3, 1891 in Westönnen ; † November 13, 1977 ) was a German master in javelin and discus throwing.

Life

After attending the rector's school in Werl , he switched to the high school in Coesfeld and passed his Abitur.

Between 1913 and 1921 Buchgeister was German champion in javelin and discus throwing five times . He started for SC Charlottenburg and SC 08 Münster. He studied dentistry in Munich and became a member of TSV 1860 Munich . In 1913 he moved to Berlin . There he set his first German record in the discus throw on May 4th with 42.28 meters. In his first German javelin championship, he threw the device 57.35 meters. Buchgeister optimized the technique in the javelin throw with the five-step rhythm in the last part of the approach. From 1920 he was a sports teacher at the University of Freiburg . The Heinrich Buchgeister Stadium in Werl is named after him.
