Amalie Rohrer

Amalie Rohrer (born June 4, 1922 in Werl ; † December 11, 2014 there ) was a German politician and the first female mayor of Werl from 1965 to 1981.

Life

After graduating from high school in 1940, Amalie Rohrer studied German, English and history at the Universities of Münster , Innsbruck and Munich . In 1947 she became a student assistant at the secondary school for girls in Werl and received her doctorate in German studies in 1948 . From 1970 she was director of studies in the substitute school service at the Ursuline High School in Werl . In 1956 Rohrer became a member of the CDU and represented it on the Werl City Council from 1957 to 1984. From 1965 to 1981 she was mayor of the city of Werl.

Honors

In 1972 she was awarded the ring of honor and in 1981 the plaque of honor of the city of Werl. In 1976 she received the Federal Cross of Merit on Ribbon of the Federal Republic of Germany.
