Manfred Stolle (born March 5, 1937 in Leipzig ) is a former athlete who - starting for the German Democratic Republic (GDR) - was fifth in the 1968 Olympic javelin .

Stolle was sixth in 1960 and fifth in 1961 at the GDR championships, but he was unable to place in the next few years. In 1965 he won his first GDR championship with a throw of 78.70 m. In 1966 he was in the GDR squad for the European Championships in Budapest in 1966 , with 78.70 m he reached eighth place. In 1967 Stolle began a series of victories at GDR championships until 1973 with seven championship titles in a row.

At the 1968 Olympic Games in Mexico City, he threw the spear to 84.42 m and took fifth place. In 1969 no javelin thrower from the GDR took part in the European Championships , in 1971 Stolle dropped out of the qualification. At the 1972 Olympic Games in Munich he reached the preliminary fight, but retired after the preliminary fight with 79.32 m in ninth place.

In 1965, Stolle improved Klaus Frost's GDR record, which had existed since 1957, from 80.09 m to 83.28 m. Over 84.36 m in 1966 and 85.80 m in 1968, he improved the GDR record in 1970 to 90.68 m. All Manfred Stolle's records were also all-German records. His all-German record was improved in 1973 by Klaus Wolfermann to the world record distance of 94.08 m. Wolfgang Hanisch exceeded his GDR record in 1978 with 91.14 m.

Stolle was a trained blacksmith, later he was an officer in the NVA . He started at ASK Berlin , after 1965 he moved to ASK Vorwärts Potsdam , when he competed he was 1.85 m tall and weighed 85 kg.
