Almut Brömmel

Almut Brömmel (born May 5, 1935 in Leipzig ) is a German senior athlete and Olympic participant, whose career as a javelin and discus thrower dates back to the 1950s.

Between 1954 and 1973 Almut Brömmel was able to place a total of 17 times at the German Javelin Championships:

  • 3 championships (1955, 1956 and 1957)
  • 10 runner-up championships (1954, 1958, 1959, 1961, 1963, 1966, 1967, 1968, 1969 and 1971)
  • 4 third places (1960, 1964, 1965 and 1973)

She took part in two Olympic Games - 1956 in Melbourne and 1960 in Rome - as well as two European championships - 1954 in Bern and 1958 in Stockholm . In 1956 she started in both javelin and discus throw, in 1954, 1958 and 1960 only in javelin throw. Her personal bests are 49.70 m in the discus throw and 55.16 m in the javelin throw, achieved in 1971 and 1968 respectively.

Almut Brömmel works for the athletics department of TSV Göggingen Augsburg as a trainer.
