The Ratzeburger SV (officially: Ratzeburger Sportverein von 1862 eV ) is a sports club from Ratzeburg in the Schleswig-Holstein district of the Duchy of Lauenburg . The first women's soccer team took part in the DFB Cup twice. The first men's handball team once took part in the DHB Cup .

history

The club was founded in 1862 and later merged with the Germania Ratzeburg football club, which was founded in 1908 . In addition to soccer and handball, the club also offers badminton , basketball , exercise , fitness , gymnastics , karate , kickboxing , bowling , coronary sports , athletics , swimming , sports badges , theater , table tennis , triathlon , gymnastics , volleyball and marching bands .

Women's soccer

The soccer players of the Ratzeburger SV were promoted to the Schleswig-Holstein Association League in 1996 and four years later to the Regionalliga Nord . In 2001 the team won the SHFV Cup and qualified for the DFB Cup. In the first round , the team met WSV Wolfsburg and lost 5-0. A year later, the team was relegated from the regional league. From 2006 to 2008, the Ratzeburg women were three times in a row Schleswig-Holstein champions, but failed each time in the promotion round. Three years later, the RSV was relegated to the association league and managed to get promoted again directly. Since relegation in 2013, the Ratzeburg women play in the association league.

Men's soccer

The men's team played in the 2nd Amateur League South since 1950 and became champions there in 1961. In the promotion round to the amateur league Schleswig-Holstein , the RSV failed at TSV Schlutup . A year later, Frisia Husum missed the leap into the top amateur league. In the meantime, the team slipped back at the district level, before the club commuted between the district and district league in the 1970s and 1980s. In 1998, the Ratzeburg rose again to the district league and qualified a year later for the newly created district league south .

There the team became champions in 2002, but failed in the promotion round at BSC Brunsbüttel . Two relegations in a row let the team slip in 2006 in the district league Lauenburg / Stormarn . In 2013 the team became vice district champion, but failed in the promotion round to the association league at Prussia Reinfeld .

Handball

The handball players of the Ratzeburger SV qualified for the DHB Cup in 2002 and failed in the first round at VfL Lichtenrade . A year later, the team rose to the upper league Schleswig-Holstein and had to relegate in 2007. A year later, the Ratzeburg handball players formed the HSG Tills Löwen 08 syndicate with those of Möllner SV and TSV Berkenthin , whose men's team competed in the Schleswig-Holstein League from 2012 to 2016. The women's team has been part of the Schleswig-Holstein League since the 2016/17 season.
