Erika Strossenreuther , married Gernandt (born August 5, 1938 in Munich ) is a former German javelin thrower . She started for TSV 1860 Munich and USC Munich .

Career

Strossenreuther began her career as a swimmer, but switched to javelin throwing after a short time . At the 1960 Summer Olympics in Rome , she missed qualifying for the final. In the same year she won her only national title at the German Athletics Championships in Berlin . At the European Championships in 1962 , she also missed the final. At the German Athletics Championships in Augsburg in 1963 , she won bronze again.

Strossenreuther married the former sprinter and later sports journalist Michael Gernandt . Professionally she worked as a sports teacher.
