Ellen Braumüller

Ellen Braumüller (born December 24, 1910 in Berlin ; † August 10, 1991 there ) was one of the first successful German women in international athletics . Ellen was Inge Braumüller's younger sister .

One of her greatest successes was the silver medal in the javelin throw at the 1932 Olympic Games in Los Angeles behind the American Mildred "Babe" Didrikson (43.68 m) with 43.49 m . In these games she also took part in the high jump (1.41 m), discus throw (33.15 m) and the 4 x 100 meter relay , but without medal success.

As early as 1930, she won the three-way battle at the Women's World Games in Prague with 198 points : 100 meters (13.9 s), high jump (1.57 m) and javelin (33.15 m). Furthermore, she celebrated successes at the German Championships between 1929 and 1933, in the following disciplines:

  • Pentathlon: Gold 1929 (2706 points), 1930 (2710 points), 1931 (3158 points), 1932 (2870 points); Bronze 1933
  • Javelin throw: Gold 1931 (39.85 m)
  • Discus throw: Gold 1933 (38.57 m)

On July 12, 1930 she set a world record in javelin throwing in Berlin with 40.27 m. Ellen Braumüller started for the OSC Berlin . At a height of 1.70 m, she had a competition weight of 68 kg.
