Raymond Hecht

Raymond Hecht (born November 11, 1968 in Gardelegen ) is a former German javelin thrower .

His best distance of 92.60 m, thrown in 1995, was the German record until May 5, 2017, when it was exceeded by Thomas Röhler . With this distance, Hecht is the seventh best javelin thrower of all time (as of August 11, 2017). At the 1996 Summer Olympics in Atlanta, he finished fourth, as before at the 1995 World Athletics Championships and the 2000 Summer Olympics in Sydney. He won the javelin competition at the GDR championships in 1990, and after reunification at the German championships in 1993, 1994, 1996 , 1999 and 2002. At the European championships in Budapest in 1998, he won the bronze medal with 86.63 m. At the Junior European Championships in 1987 he also won a bronze medal with 72.78 m.

Raymond Hecht was 1.91 m tall and had a competition weight of 105 kg. He started for the SC Magdeburg and the TV Wattenscheid 01 athletics .
