The VfL Kellinghusen is a sports club from Kellinghusen in Schleswig-Holstein Steinburg in Germany . The first soccer team took part in the DFB Cup once.

history

The association was created in 1936 as a merger of TSV Gut-Heil Kellinghusen from 1862 and Kellinghusener SV from 1910 . In 1945, the members of the ATV Frei Heil Kellinghusen, which was banned as a workers' sports club in 1933, also joined VfL from 1892 .

The footballers were among the founding members of the Schleswig-Holstein State League in 1947 , but were only relegated with three points in the first season . From 1953 VfL belonged to the district class West . At that time, Hans Georg Skambraks, a later chairman of the Schleswig-Holstein Football Association, stood in the Kellinghusener Tor. After relegation in 1964, the team returned in 1967 to what is now called the 2nd Amateur League West . In 1971, he was promoted to the Verbandsliga Süd , where they reached fourth place two years later. In 1979 it went back to the District League West . After the runner-up in 1982, two years later, with 112 goals this season, they were promoted to what is now called the Landesliga Süd , the second highest league in the country. At the same time, VfL won the SHFV Cup . In the first round of the DFB Cup, the Kellinghusener were defeated by the then second division Union Solingen with 1: 4.

In the state league season 1984/85 succeeded due to the better goal difference against the TuS Hoisdorf the march into the Verbandsliga Schleswig-Holstein . VfL stayed in the Upper House of Schleswig-Holstein for two years before returning to the state league. In 1992 he was relegated to the district league. It was not until 1998 that it was promoted to the regional league and one year later it was classified in the newly created regional league west . When the majority of the players left the club in 2000, VfL went voluntarily to the district league. After the newly created association league was missed in 2008 , VfL played in the district A Steinburg . In the 2012/13 season, VfL won the championship and rose to the district league West .

In the first year in the Kreisliga West, the direct promotion to the Association League South / West failed. After another year in the regional league, he was promoted to the association league in the 2014/15 season, followed by qualification for the newly created Holstein regional league in 2017 . A year later, VfL was relegated to the association league.
