Benjaminas Sakalauskas

Benjaminas Sakalauskas (born May 6, 1955 in Nizhny Katschergat, Irkutsk Oblast , Soviet Union ) is a Lithuanian forester and former local politician . He was mayor of Zarasai and from 1997 to 2014 general forest master of Lithuania .

Life

Sakalauskas grew up in a displaced family. 1970 after completing an eight-year school Nizhny Katschergat he graduated from the forestry technical center in 1974 Irkutsk and 1988 studies at the forestry faculty of Aleksandras Stulginskis University in Kaunas and was forest engineer .

From 1974 to 1975 Sakalauskas was a forest technician and forester in Goloustno (Irkutsk region). In 1977 he came to Lithuania and worked as a forester of Salagiris in the Rokiškis district . In the same year his parents returned from exile. From 1982 to 1995 he was the district forester of Dusetos . From 1997 to November 2014 was Lithuanian general forest manager (at the Ministry of Environment of Lithuania ).

Sakalauskas has been a member of the Lithuanian Political Prisoners and Refugee Union since 1994.

From 1990 to 1995 Sakalauskas was city and district council chairman in Dusetos, from 1995 to 1997 mayor of the district of Zarasai .
