Hermann Graefe

Hermann Graefe (born September 10, 1900 in Beerendorf ; † February 5, 1995 ) was a German functionary of the GDR block party DBD . He was chairman of the Saxony-Anhalt regional association and the Magdeburg district council of the DBD.

Life

Gräfe, the son of a farm laborer , first worked in agriculture after attending elementary school , from 1916 he learned the electrical trade and later worked as an electrician in the Leuna works and in the Lützen electricity works . In 1924 he joined the KPD and the factory workers' association . In 1928 he became a member of the German Metalworkers' Association . He was one of the co-founders of the Red Front Fighter League in Lützen.

After the " seizure of power " by the National Socialists in 1933, Gräfe was active in the communist resistance , was arrested and sentenced to three years in prison in 1935 for "preparing for high treason " . After his release he was drafted into the service in 1938 and drafted into the armed forces in 1943.

After the end of the war in 1945, Gräfe became operations manager of the electrical works in Lützen and then Neubauer in 1946 . In 1945 he rejoined the KPD, in 1946 when the SPD and KPD were forced to merge , he became a member of the SED . In 1946 he became chairman of the Association of Mutual Farmers Aid in Lützen and a member of its district committee. In 1948 Gräfe was one of the co-founders of the DBD in the Merseburg district , became chairman of the DBD local group in Lützen, as well as a member of the district board and instructor of the state board. In 1950/1951 he worked as the main department head in the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry in Saxony-Anhalt. Gräfe was from 1951 to 1952 chairman of the regional association of Saxony-Anhalt of the DBD and from 1952 to 1960 chairman of the DBD district board of Magdeburg. From 1951 to 1960 he was also a member of the party executive committee of the DBD, from 1951 to 1953 also a member of the secretariat of the party executive committee.

From 1950 to 1958 Gräfe was a member of the People's Chamber .
