Schleswig-Holstein State League (1968–1999)
The Landesliga Schleswig-Holstein was from 1968 to 1999 the second highest division of the SHFV ; the game operation took place in two seasons - north and south. From 1968 to 1978 this state league was called Verbandsliga Schleswig-Holstein ; During this period, the highest Schleswig-Holstein league, today's Oberliga Schleswig-Holstein , was called Landesliga Schleswig-Holstein .
history
Before the league was founded, the substructure of the highest Schleswig-Holstein league (today: Schleswig-Holstein League) consisted of five to six district or 2nd amateur leagues: North, East Eiderstaffel, East Fördestaffel, West, South (at times divided into Nordstaffel and Südstaffel), which were directed by the four district associations. With the founding of this league - initially referred to as the Schleswig-Holstein Association League until 1978 - the Schleswig-Holstein Football Association also took over responsibility for the two seasons of the Schleswig-Holstein’s second-highest league level in 1968. The North season comprised the area of the North and East districts, the South Season that of the West and South districts. In 1978 there was the aforementioned exchange of names with the highest Schleswig-Holstein league: the state league became association league , and the association leagues became state leagues , so that the relegated teams from the highest Schleswig-Holstein league were named after the state division and the promoted association division . In 1999 the state league was dissolved and replaced by four district upper leagues , which in turn were replaced by four association leagues (see: Verbandsliga Schleswig-Holstein (from 2008) ) with a different spatial division .
Within the West German, later all-German league system, the league was fourth class from 1968 to 1974, fifth class from 1974 to 1994 and sixth class from 1994 to 1999.
One of the curiosities of the North Staffel were special trains for the team and battle strollers in the early days of the league - the reason: The island of Sylt can only be reached by train and so chartered a. a. the Gettorfer SC to the away games at TSV Westerland whole train units. It was quite curious in this northern season in the 1991/92 season, when five teams had hopes for the championship and thus promotion on the last day of the game. In the end, Wiker SV prevailed with one point ahead of their pursuers Holstein Kiel II, TSV Nord Harrislee, TSB Flensburg and Eckernförder SV with equal points.
The two-tier Landesliga Schleswig-Holstein has been experiencing a renaissance since 2017 .
