Union-Teutonia Kiel is a sports club in Kiel . The first soccer team played for four years in the highest amateur league in Schleswig-Holstein .

history

The club was founded on July 3, 1919 through the merger of FC Union Kiel and FC Teutonia Kiel . FC Union Kiel was founded on October 4th, 1908, while Teutonia was created in 1910 through the merger of the clubs Germania Kiel , Nordstern Kiel and FC Altstadt Kiel .

Between 1921 and 1933 UT, whose players were called "yellow shirts", belonged to the top division of Schleswig-Holstein. In 1926, the team initially qualified for the finals of the North German Championship and would have met Hamburger SV there . After a protest by local rivals FC Kilia , UT slipped back to second place. Two years later, UT was runner-up and qualified for the North German finals, where the Kiel team lost 1: 3 in qualifying Hannover 96 . In 1933 UT was not accepted into the newly created Gauliga Nordmark and failed a year later in the promotion round. According to different information, since the 1943/44 season or the 1944/45 season Union-Teutonia joined with Kilia Kiel in a war syndicate that was referred to as both "KSG Kilia Kiel / Union Teutonia Kiel" and "KSG Kiel". This KSG was entered into by Union-Teutonia due to a lack of sports grounds.

After the Second World War , he was promoted to the East District Class in 1950, followed by promotion to the Schleswig-Holstein State League four years later . 1959 succeeded in advancing again before UT had to go back to district level in 1961. Seven years later, the team qualified for the newly created Association League North . After relegation and re-promotion in the meantime, relegation to the district league followed in 1975, which heralded the club's sporty decline. In 1988 UT was relegated to the district class with only 2:58 points and was promptly passed through to the district league. There it came in the 1994/95 season to the curious situation that the first team was relegated to the district class, while the second team marched through as a promoted team in the district class. After the dissolution of the district classes, it went back to the district league in 1999. Since relegation in 2009, UT competed in the district class A, before returning to the district league in 2018 via a promotion round.

Between 1984 and 2002 there was also a women's team at UT, which was Schleswig-Holstein runner-up in 1992, 1995 and 1996.
