Order of Faust
The Order of Faust is a carnival order awarded annually in Weimar by the craftsmen Carnevalsverein Weimar eV .
meaning
The name of the order is supposed to represent a connection to Johann Wolfgang Goethe , who decisively shaped artistic life in Weimar from the classical period to the present with his prose texts, dramas, sayings and sentences.
Award
The Handwerker Carnevalsverein Weimar (HWC) emerged in 1966 from a craftsmen's choir. The founding members Ernst Gotzian and the native Rhinelander Josef de Wall had the idea for a choir carnival. In 1967, Mardi Gras was celebrated internally for the first time and on March 2, 1968 the first ceremonial meeting of the HWC took place in the Weimar Waldschlößchen. The medal has been awarded since 2006. The Elferrat elects the candidates from the fields of politics, business, culture or sport. The award of the honorary order takes place during a ceremonial meeting and is traditionally introduced with a laudation .
