The sports club Sereetz von 1909 eV was a sports club from the East Holstein town of Sereetz , which existed from 1909 to 2004 and reached national leagues in both men's and women's football. The first men's team was one of the founding members of the Oberliga Hamburg / Schleswig-Holstein in 1994/95, the women belonged to the Regionalliga Nord for three seasons and took part in the DFB Cup.

history

SV Sereetz was founded on July 5, 1953 and became the legal successor to ATSV Sereetz- Dänischburg . The workers' sports club, founded in 1909, remained in the soccer competitions of the Workers' Gymnastics and Sports Association without any notable success and - like all other workers' sports clubs - was banned after the National Socialists came to power in 1933.

Soccer

Men's

The first men's team of the newly founded club played an average role in East Holstein football for a long time, but was able to reach the second highest division in Schleswig-Holstein several times. In 1998 Sereetz managed to move up to the Landesliga Süd, which at that time was also the second highest division in the country. There the team was able to achieve a placement in the upper midfield right away and was often among the top group in the following years. In 1988, the former goalkeeper of VfB Lübeck, Manfred Bomke, was hired as a coach, who led her to the fourth-class Schleswig-Holstein Association League in 1989. From this the Ostholsteiners had to descend directly, but with the help of the meanwhile significantly increased support from major regional sponsors, they managed to get back up immediately.

The next seasons in the association league ended much more successfully than before. After a fifth and a tenth place, SV Sereetz reached third place in 1993/94. This not only resulted in qualification for the newly founded Oberliga Hamburg / Schleswig-Holstein, but also allowed the club to take part in the promotion round to the third-rate Regionalliga Nord. In the games against Concordia Hamburg , FC Bremerhaven and SV Atlas Delmenhorst , however, they only scored two goals and missed the possible promotion without winning a point. In the following season, the SVS could not build on the successful games of the previous seasons, rose as bottom of the league from the league and then did not get in the association league beyond placements in midfield.

As a result, the club ran into financial difficulties, which led to the withdrawal from the association league in 2000 and finally to filing for bankruptcy in 2003. Sereetz SV was founded in the same year, and many members of SV Sereetz joined it.

Women

The women's team was one of the top teams in Schleswig-Holstein, especially in the 1990s and 2000s. In 1995 and 2001 she was able to win the Schleswig-Holstein state championship and rose to the Regionalliga Nord. While the immediate relegation had to be accepted in 1995/96, the team was able to keep the class in 2001/02, before ending the 2002/03 season - shortly before the club went bankrupt - again on a relegation zone. In 1998 he qualified for the DFB Cup as the national cup winner; in the first round they lost to Grün-Weiß Brauweiler 0: 7.
