The Turn- und Sportgemeinschaft Concordia Schönkirchen eV is a sports club from Schönkirchen in Schleswig-Holstein . The sporting offer extends over twelve categories.

history

On July 9, 1911, at a general assembly of the warrior club for Schönkirchen and the surrounding area, the teacher Rathje from Tökendorf suggested the establishment of a gymnastics club . A commission was then elected to take the necessary steps. This commission issued a call to the population of Schönkirchen and the surrounding area to meet with the innkeeper Mordhorst (today "Im Landhaus") on October 18th to establish a gymnastics club. Eleven members joined the gymnastics club that day and a provisional board was elected.

At the end of October the association already had 35 members. “Heuck's Gasthof” was chosen as the club's bar. From January 1913 on, gymnastics took place in the hall of "Heuck's Gasthof". In the war from 1914 to 1918, gymnastics came to a standstill, but in March 1918 an extraordinary meeting decided to restart gymnastics from Easter. On April 4, 1919 Ferdinand Geest was elected deputy gymnastics warden and from then on he shaped the fate of the club until his death in 1995. The club flag was consecrated in 1924. Political life in the Third Reich again severely restricted activities in the association, as the young people had to be active in the Hitler Youth .

A military government ban put an end to it for the time being. On October 13, 1945, a meeting decided to revive sporting activities. Now the possibilities also had to be created. A lease agreement for the use of the square was concluded with the owner of the "Friesenplatz" at the time, Detlef Krohn from Neumühlen . Since there were no more sports grounds in the wider area due to the effects of the war, the Friesenplatz was shared with the neighboring associations NDTV and WTV with the same rights and obligations.

Now the athletic work could finally begin. There was gymnastics (again in "Heuck's Gasthof"), soccer , handball and table tennis . The question of the sports field became more and more difficult, so that football and handball operations had to be temporarily suspended. After the chairmen Rudolf Westfahl (until 1949) and Albert Zimprich (1949 to 1951) Ferdinand Geest took over the office of 1st chairman for many years.

A bounce ball department was founded, which still exists today and which had successfully participated in the North German championships for years. In 1960, on the occasion of the 400th anniversary of the Old Guild, the Augustental sports complex was inaugurated. In that year the football department was founded on the initiative of Dieter Seyfert. In the first year only friendlies were played. In 1961 the game was registered and Schönkirchen played in the district class D. After that, the promotion up to the A class was made every year. In the 1967/68 series, the first team became champions of the Kiel A-class and at the same time cup winners. This secured promotion to the district league . The B-Jugend became national champions in 1970 and the DFB became aware of the players. Martin Söth, Holger Haltehof and later Dirk Herrmann were the first to be invited to viewing courses. Even today, great talents continue to emerge. Most recently it was Michael Möller and Stefan Rodewald. They were poached by " Holstein Kiel ".

The league was promoted to the regional league under coach Otto Riedel in 1983. At the same time, the A-youth rose under coach Klaus Feierabend in the top division of Schleswig-Holstein, the association league. This good A youth was also the basis for the league and the 2nd men who managed to play with one team in the association league and another in the national league in one year. Today the football department consists of 2 senior and 18 youth teams (13 of them as the SG Probstei playing community), more than 30 coaches and 35 supervisors, and with around 400 athletes is the second largest department in the club after gymnastics.

In 1972 TSG Schönkirchen von 1911 and SC Concordia from 1951 merged, and the name TSG Concordia Schönkirchen von 1911 eV was created. In 1967 the sports hall was inaugurated, which was later named "Ferdinand-Geest-Halle". Now a badminton department was founded . In 1980 this department became a member of the top division in Schleswig-Holstein and, with Dirk Moeller, today's 2nd chairman, was the single or double champion several times. The "International Schoolchildren and Youth Tournament", which has been held annually since 1975, has a permanent place in the calendar and has a good international reputation.

Now the gymnastics department has been filled with more life again. A mother and child gymnastics group, children's gymnastics and aerobics and jazz dance were launched. Since the assembly hall was completed, baby gymnastics (6 months to 2 years) has also been offered.

The table tennis department was able to reactivate itself thanks to the new sports hall. Considerable sporting successes were achieved.

Now the handball department could also start training. However, the point games had to be carried out in the district hall in Heikendorf , as the dimensions of the Ferdinand-Geest-Halle did not correspond to the norm. This only changed at the end of the 1980s, when the new ball sports hall "Albert-Zimprich-Halle" was put into operation.

The tennis sponsorship association in TSG, which was launched and founded by TSG in 1977, went into business the following year and formed the Schönkirchen tennis club.

Also in 1977 the newly created volleyball department was registered with the association.

In the field of athletics , especially in the youth field, some excellent successes had been achieved. The “Schönkirchener Herbstlauf” has now become a “must” for insiders. The hiking group is a very active people in itself.

A karate department has developed very successfully since the early 1990s . Here, too, a lot and good youth work is being done under Bernd Busse.

In 1975 a shooting group was founded that was very active and created the shooting range under the Ferdinand-Geest-Halle on its own. After the shooters had largely retired due to their age, the shooting range was handed over to the Kyffhäuser Kameradschaft in 1999 .

In 1974 the association was able to purchase a barracks in the Anschützsiedlung at an affordable price , which had been set up for the 1972 Olympic sailing competitions in Kiel. This is how the “Friesenheim” came into being.

After the club management took care of the management in private rooms for a long time, the community of Schönkirchen made the youth and club home in the school available in the 1970s. A business room was then set up here. However, on August 8, 1992, today's youth and sports center was inaugurated after two years of construction.

The management of the association has now hired a half-day employee, as sensible administrative work on a voluntary basis could no longer be managed.

In the 2016/17 season , the soccer team was represented for one season in the top division of Schleswig-Holstein, the Schleswig-Holstein League. After relegation, the team plays in the Schleswig State League and, after another relegation, in the Association League from 2019.

After just one season, the first successes could be celebrated, for example winning the national championship of the female A youth.
