Nader El-Sayed ( Arabic نادر السيد; * December 13, 1972 in Dakahlia ) is a former Egyptian soccer goalkeeper who played for the Egyptian national soccer team for a total of thirteen years .

Club career

El-Sayed began his professional career at Zamalek SC . After six successful years he took the chance and moved to the top Belgian club FC Bruges . After he couldn't secure a regular place there, he tried his luck in Greece with Akratitos Ano Liosia in the Alpha Ethniki .

After playing briefly for Al-Ittihad and Al-Masry , he moved to Al-Ahly Cairo . He took part in the FIFA Club World Cup in 2005 and finished 5th after losing the game against Sydney FC 2-1.

On January 9, 2007, he moved to ENPPI Club after he had failed to fight for a regular place at Al-Ahly Cairo .

El-Sayed is also known as the penalty killer. During his career he saved a total of 21 penalties in the club and in the national team.

National team career

El-Sayed played in his home country's national team for 13 years. He made his debut in 1995 in a 1-1 draw with Jordan .

He also played as captain at the 1992 Summer Olympics in Barcelona and at the 1991 World Junior Cup in Portugal .

El-Sayed is also the only goalkeeper to have been voted best goalkeeper twice in the African Cup of Nations, namely in the Africa Cup in 1998 and 2000 .

Since he could not secure a regular place at Al-Ahly Cairo and he was getting on in years, he made his last game in 2005 in qualifying for the 2006 World Cup against Ivory Coast , which was lost 2-0.
